Piggott School Ch 3
Ten young people aged 14–15 from Piggott School stepped aboard Challenger 3 ready for an unforgettable adventure at sea. Over the course of their voyage, the crew took on new challenges, learned sailing skills, worked together as a team and discovered what life on the water is all about. Follow their journey as they share their experiences from life aboard Challenger 3.
Day 1
Today was really fun! Esme and Pippa helped put up the front sail, while Payton had a go at sailing the boat. We successfully docked, and Louis especially enjoyed the delicious fajitas, amazingly cooked by Aidan, Phoebe, Evie, Lee and Will.
The weather has been lovely and hot, which has been brilliant for getting a tan. Hahaha! Now we’re off for showers because we’re all disgustingly sticky.

Today was class! We started the day by meeting the crew, and our favourite was Hsien. The weather has been brilliant, although very windy, and we’re all feeling really happy – especially Rory.
We’ve learned lots of new things today, including how to tie several different knots. The only downside is that Rory is disgusted because the water he’s just drunk doesn’t taste very nice!

Day 2
Wow, what a day! We sailed for 7 hours today, and it was fun but also a very long day. Both Miss Spratt and Dan felt very ill. Will and Esme started to hallucinate as they began saying they were seeing whales and dolphins!
We had a race to see who could put up the staysail the fastest. We were amazed by Lee’s protein strength as he single-handedly lifted the sail most of the way up the mast.
It was really hot, and we all felt super sick, but only Miss Spratt threw up. At the end of the day, we got chippie chips, which we had with fish. Although we gorged ourselves, we still couldn’t finish them because there was a big box left over.
