Setting Sail for the First Time A Year 8 Adventure

Not every adventure starts with a map and a compass. For one class of Year 8s, it started with a packed bag, a few nerves, and a very big boat. Here’s how they got on.

Day 1

Once upon a time, a class of Year 8s set sail across the raging ocean to… The Isle of Wight. They met the crew and got ready for a trip to remember. At first, they were sceptical of the beds, loos, and amount of space, but it soon grew on them. Their confidence grew as did the wind speed! They persevered at the different roles on the boat even though some of them were a real workout. They enjoyed learning how to manage boat life and soon got the hang of it by steering the boat, hoisting sails, and using boat vocab. At last, they were flying across the channel to arrive at Cowes Harbour for a delicious dinner of fajitas.

Then they settled down with Uno for some games before bed, preparing for a night in their bunks.
