I've just bought a painting of 'the Sir Winston Churchill' to remind me of an amazing return passage we made to the Isle of Man from Liverpool some 45 years ago. Barely managing to reach the Crow's nest on arrival, I found someone's clothes on my lower bunk (Port A2). having moved them up to the top bunk, an old lady appeared with a cut on her forehead. "I slept up there last night, but I fell out, so I hope you don't mind swapping"! I felt really bad!! She then told me she had para glided, been in a hot air balloon and done wing walking - but had never sailed. Poor soul, she spend much of the passage in the scuppers as she was very seasick. But she got over it and lived to tell the tale. She had guts and really pushed herself. A great lesson for the young! Get outside your comfort zone. Ian Meadows.
