Ketch – Salmon Youth Centre – XK241028
Salmon Youth Centre join us for a 4-night voyage on the Ketch. Follow their journey below.
Day 1
Monday, 28 October
Today was an awesome day. I had lots of fun learning how to get the boat up and running. I was very scared at first, but it ended up being fun. It felt new as I have never been on boat before, but the longer I was on it I got used to it. The breeze felt beautiful but cold. For the first day, I was shocked for how cold it actually was but it was good for the first time and I can’t wait for tomorrow. It felt relaxing when I was sitting with my friends on the front of the boat but we got splashed many times. Hopefully tomorrow’s ride is also as interesting.

Day 2
Tuesday, 29 October
Today, I had a lot fun.
The waves were really choppy so I got to try and balance myself on the top of the boat with my friend. I had a great time hanging out with my friends in the morning and enjoyed working the boat in the afternoon.
The food was very good and I also loved sitting down with my friends and chatting while we ate our meals. I learnt a lot today like tying different knots and learning how to make spaghetti bolognaise so that now, I can make it at home to and help out more round my house.
I am very glad that my parents allowed me to come on this trip as it is only the second day and I am already enjoying it immensely. I feel like I have already learnt so much and can only look forward to what is to come.

Day 3
Wednesday, 30 October
Today was an action-packed adventure, we travelled from Poole to Lymington.
The trip took 5 hours long as we travelled through high waves and strong winds.
During our voyage we had a delicious lunch including pasties and baked beans.
After we ate on deck we navigated the boat through the ferocious seas and arrived in Lymington.
Day 3 was a wonderful experience and after all our hard work we enjoyed our chicken curry and sat down for game of Uno.

Day 4
Thursday, 31 October
Today me, Chantelle, Lenard made breakfast which was scrambled eggs and bacon with toast/muffins. We started our day off in Lymington. We found a really nice gift shop along cobbled streets.
We started to leave the docks, so I helped with releasing the fenders. The waters was really still today and I absolutely loved the view along the stretch back to Portsmouth. I took lots of photos.
The sail back was long but we occupied our time with steering, playing ‘I spy’ and playing Christmas music.
As we approached Portsmouth, Giles taught us how to determine what each light for the different buoys mean and how you can sail safely at night. North, East, West and South and how the clock face/numbers determines the amount of times the lights on the buoys flashes.
As we docked I helped pulling the lines I also tied some fenders and I saw someone struggling so I helped them also.
I enjoyed this trip and I would like to do this again.
