Kickstart the New Year with an adventure! Join us for an exciting 4-night Exploration voyage along the South Coast on board a 72ft Challenger yacht. Whether you love going on adventures, dinghy sail on the weekends and are ready for the next challenge, or are a total newbie to sailing, this voyage is for you.
Get ready to explore life on the water, make new friends, and boost your confidence as you sail with a fun group of young adventurers. You’ll learn exciting new skills, how to work together as a team and create amazing memories.
Plus, you’ll earn your RYA Start Yachting certificate – the first step on your way to becoming a sailing pro!
Sailing out of Portsmouth into the Solent, you’ll have possible visits to Cowes or Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, or weather permitting head down to Poole for New Years Eve before returning to the Solent. Keep a sharp eye on the horizon as wildlife might share parts of your journey.
Beyond just sailing, you’ll walk away with new skills, improved confidence, and new friendships.
Throughout the week, you’ll experience helming a yacht, sail handling, ropework & knot tying—all while learning essential safety practices on board. If conditions allow, you’ll also get to do some night sailing.
You will be grouped into one of two watches (teams, traditionally known as Port and Starboard). In your watch, you’ll be involved in all aspects of sailing the Challenger from deck duties and maintenance to cooking and cleaning, fostering a sense of responsibility and teamwork.
At the end of the voyage, you will receive a personal assessment covering how you have grown your leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
You have the chance to complete the RYA Start Yachting course while on board.
The cost of your RYA certificate is included in the price. RYA logbooks are available for purchase on board for £6 (cash only, payable to the Skipper).
The Skipper will determine the final route depending on weather and other variables. Winter sailing can be amazing, but it will be chilly, so bring plenty of warm layers and wellies/waterproof boots.
Your Skipper can also recommend you for our volunteer crew training programme if they feel you have the skills and attributes that we’re looking for. You can speak to your TSYT crew if this is something you’d be interested in and you’d like to find out more.
All meals on board are included.
