Voyage highlights
Get a taste of adventure and set sail from Portsmouth for a fun-filled long weekend sailing along the stunning South Coast.
Onboard one of our iconic 72ft Challenger yachts, you’ll meet like-minded individuals , aged from 18-80, and have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sailing, while creating lifelong memories!
We’ll be looking to use the opportunity to celebrate the momentous coronation of King Charles III, with more details to be confirmed. However, if this isn’t for you and you’d prefer to make your own arrangements, that’s OK too.
By participating, you’ll be supporting our life-changing youth development work as proceeds from our adult voyages help to fund our charity’s vital work with young people aged 12-25.
You’ll sail through the Solent and then along the South Coast. Be sure to pack your camera for the journey as you may spot dolphins, seals and fin whales. Possible stopovers include Cowes or Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight and Poole.
New skills. Increased confidence. New friendships. Lifelong memories.
Throughout the voyage, you’ll experience steering a yacht, sail handling and ropework, as well as learning how to keep safe onboard. You may even have the opportunity to experience night sailing.
We’ll divide the crew into two teams (watches), traditionally known as Port and Starboard. In your watches, you’ll take it in turns to be involved in all aspects of sailing the Challenger from looking after her to cooking and cleaning.
The Skipper will determine the route depending on weather and conditions.
There’s a possibility you could be recommended by the Skipper to come back and volunteer as a Watch Assistant or Watch Leader for future Tall Ships Youth Trust voyages.
Meals onboard are included.
