We were honored to attend the Annual National Service for Seafarers at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on Wednesday, 9 October, proudly represented by our dedicated team members, Kirsty French and Anna Jakob from the Youth Development and Outdoor Learning team.

Organised by Seafarers’ Charity and Trinity House, the event was graced by HRH Princess Royal and brought together a vibrant mix of representatives from the maritime community, including the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, fishing industry, nautical colleges, and more.

We are especially proud of Dominic (17), who represented Tall Ships Youth Trust as our flag bearer for the colour party procession.

Seafarer

Dominic first joined us from London Nautical School for a group voyage and has since progressed through our 3-voyage programme, becoming one of the pioneering young people on our first-ever Leadership Voyage. He was recently promoted to Cadet Leader in the Sea Cadets, and continues to hashtag sail regularly with us.

Reflecting on his experience, Dominic shared: “It was an honor to represent Tall Ships Youth Trust at the annual memorial service for seafarers. TSYT is an incredible organization that does amazing things, and it was a privilege to pay my respects to those who have sacrificed so much at sea for our freedom and standards of living.”

Dominic also participated in our first charity abseil challenge in September, showcasing his growth and leadership skills. We couldn’t be prouder of him—his journey truly highlights the transformative impact of youth development at sea!

Our Director of Youth Development and Outdoor Learning remarked, “It was a real privilege to attend ANSS again this year, a powerful service to celebrate and remember those who have dedicated their lives to seafaring. Joining aspiring to retired seafarers alongside young people and staff from London Nautical School who join us on their journey in adulthood.”
