Andrew had been unemployed and out of education or employment for two years before his youth worker recommended he came on a voyage.
“I first sailed from Tenerife to the UK and absolutely loved it. I learnt loads of life skills – cooking, cleaning, working as a team and of course how to sail a boat! As soon as we arrived back I went home and got my first ever job to save money to come back and sail with the Trust as a Watch Leader. After two years, I worked my way up to Mate and now sail full time helping other young people just like myself. Without Tall Ships none of this would ever have been possible.”
