Day 1

Monday, 16 June

The start of the day started with a very smooth journey. It only took around 3 hours. We had to work together to do work to get the boat sailing which was fun! Some parts were rocky, but most was smooth and fun.

We all helped out in bringing up the mast, where the strong sixth formers helped pull the sail all the way up through sweating, everyone did their part on the ship, even when it came to lay down the anchor and eat.

Chloe, Emilya and Lucas all chopped up the vegetables (a small accident happened with the onions) and Lucas and Em cooked the chicken in a very large pot to make some fajitas

Day 2

Tuesday, 17 June

We started early in the morning doing an anchor watch at 12:30 am. We had to sit and observe our position for an hour. We went back to sleep at 1:30am and then the other group went.

At 6:30am we were woken up by the lion king song circle of life. We then went up to the deck and raised the main sail.

Charlie was also driving the boat while the others lifted the sail, and then we ate breakfast.

We sailed the boat to Swanage, as we did it, we also did pole climbing. We did a man overboard drill, lots of tacking and gybing.

We saw some dolphins swim past us, also spotted a spitfire doing tricks in the sky.

Then the cooking team prepared some spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread which was very nice. Today was a good day but also very tiring. ☺

Day 3

Wednesday, 18 June

We started the day by waking up at 7:45 am to pancakes on the table with various toppings to add. We all helped prepare the dinghy to go to monkey beach for the day. We split the boat crew into two groups to take onto the dinghies. It was a 5-minute trip to the beach, and we had to walk round to monkey beach which was fun as we got to also look around Swanage.

We then had some free time to do what we like, then we had an unbelievably delicious BBQ cooked by Adam and Hugo.

Challenger 4 (us) had an extra 2 hours in Swanage to walk around Swanage and explore in mini groups.

We then got dinghied back to the boats and before sailing to Poole to dock in for the night, we anchored in a bit before and most people jumped into the sea off the boat. Thankfully, there were showers which we all took in turns to use.
