Follow 10 amazing young people, aged 12–15, as they set off on an unforgettable five-day voyage from 30th March to 3rd April. From learning to sail and climbing masts to cooking meals, night sailing and working together as a crew, this journey is full of adventure, challenges and fun.
Day 1
We arrived at 1 o’clock in the afternoon and then we had to go through a few safety procedures.
After that, we had a tour of the boat and then we got our waterproofs and life jackets on. We had visitors on the boat, so we had to show them around. Then, when they left, we went up on deck and helped to get started to set sail. Then we went to Cowes Island and stayed there. We got there at about 6:30, then we made dinner. We had spaghetti bolognese, but we had pasta instead of spaghetti because one of the crew does not like it. Oh yes, we also drove the boat!
Then we ate dinner and got ready to have a shower. We got off and, my my, I do love land!
Then we went back, got into our cot berth and went to bed at 10.
Day 2
We woke up at 7:30 and my group with Erin made breakfast at 8:00, and we ate bagels and cereal.
After that, we got the ship ready and set sail, and told Alfie to pull up his shorts. When we set sail, we had tea and coffee, then we got ready to put up the sails. It took a long time to put up the sail, even with 15 people on the boat.
Then we saw cargo ships, then a mega mansion with like 6 houses. Then we put down the sail, which took about 30 minutes. After that, we finally went to the port, and we had to fix the ship to the dock.
Then we went to the shop. After we had lunch, we all bought a lot of stuff, and then we just chilled and went to sleep.
Day 3
We woke up at 8:00 and the other group made breakfast, which was toasted bagels, cereal and toast. My group washed up while the other group got the boat ready to sail to Lymington port.
As we were going there, we prepared to climb the spinnaker pole. Everyone had a chance to do it, with the best times being 18 seconds and 25 seconds to climb to the top of the pole, with some people getting swung on it while the boat went around.
While we were climbing, Kayden was doing donuts with the boat. Then we had lunch, which was wraps with fish fingers, lettuce and tomato. Then, when we parked at the port, we wrapped the sails, then we did man overboard drills, and then chilled for like 1 or 2 hours. After that, we got ready for a bath and dinner, then we went to sleep.
Day 4
We woke up at 8:00 and our group made breakfast again, and as the other group was cleaning, my group was getting ready to climb the mast. After the other group finished cleaning the plates, we all climbed the mast for around an hour or more, and at 9:00 to 9:30 we set sail.
After just making tea and sailing, we then got ready to uncover and put up the sail for the last time. After we had the sail up for around 1 hour or more, we got ready to take it down and cover it up, with all of us on the floor rolling the sail into the cover. After another hour, we finally got to Cowes. We put the boat at the port and then went to play football for around 1 hour or more.
After that, we got ready to go to the shower. After the shower (it was like 1 hour or 1 hour and a half), we got back and finally got ready for dinner (fish and chips), but before that we played with cards. After dinner, we put all of our waterproof gear on and our life jackets to get ready to night sail at 20:43.
