Tall Ships Ketch – RYA Start Yachting Adventure
Day One
On Tuesday 9th July 2019 at 1pm the Tenacity of Bolton welcomed 7 eager and enthusiastic new sailors on board its’ deck at Inverkip’s beautiful Kip Marina. After a warm and pleasant welcome from Skipper Neil Montague and Ships Mate Harry Martalnd, the slightly nervous newcomers quickly felt at home as they boarded the 14.13 metres Ketch. The crew were quickly thrown in at the deep end, as the hands on approach that Tall Ships adopted meant that all hands were on deck to help leave the Marina. Despite the slightly miserable weather, spirits were high as the extra clothing and equipment ensured a comfortable and safe voyage as the boat motored down to Largs on a 2 hour run. The journey entailed the joys of steering Tenacity for the first time as well as the once in a life time experience of watching dolphins arc and play alongside the boat. After an exciting first leg, the Tenacity of Bolton reached Larg Marina at around 5pm. A very hungry boat enjoyed their first meal on board the boat which consisted of chicken fajitas. These went down a treat amongst the crew! After a long and tiring day, a game of cards settled the team down for the evening before clambering into bed for a well-deserved night’s sleep.
