Seawork Careers Day: Navigate Your Maritime Path with TSYT

By Tall Ships - May 9th, 2024 | Posted in News No comments

Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) will be exhibiting at the Seawork and Maritime UK Solent Careers Day on June 13, 2024, and are inviting a group of individuals aged 15-19 to visit the careers fair. This is part of an ongoing commitment to supporting young people’s journeys into maritime.

Kirsty French, TSYT Director of Youth Development and Outdoor Learning spoke on the importance of these events, “Engaging with others on their own maritime journey is so important! Young people will choose what they know, so the more aware young people are of the opportunities out there for them, for training and careers post-16, the better.  There are so many incredible pathways in maritime on, off and under the water – this provides an amazing opportunity to explore those options and speak to the people who can help make it happen.

Attendees will get the chance to interact with industry professionals, exhibitors, and training providers at Seawork. Hear from young individuals who have kickstarted their careers in the marine sector and gain valuable insights into potential opportunities, training programmes, and earning potential.

The Seawork Careers Day is a free event and TSYT will be supporting with travel for young people who have previously sailed with the charity, are aged 15-19 and live in and around Hampshire.

A year 9 student from Henry Cort Community College recalled his time at last year’s event, “I found the speakers at the beginning really interesting and the exhibitors were very knowledgeable about their roles.  Thank you for an informative day.”
