Our three-voyage programme of Exploration, Empowerment and Leadership is tailored to the different stages and experiences of the young people who sail with us.
Young people start their TSYT journey from age 12 with a Voyage of Exploration where they embrace new experiences exploring the ocean environment and building awareness of themselves and others. They then progress on to a Voyage of Empowerment developing life skills, independence and building resilience. This is followed by a Voyage of Leadership to develop leadership, influencing and workplace skills.
All youth voyages can be experienced up to the age of 25. Once complete, they’ll be ready to embrace responsibility, make decisions and influence others in their communities and the world of work.
As well as gaining invaluable life skills, young people can work towards and achieve RYA qualifications and complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions, or achieve the residential section of the Gold Award.
Additionally, up to 20% of the young people who sail with us are recommended to return and train as a volunteer, giving them the opportunity to support others and work towards a career in the maritime sector and blue economy.
We assess each young person’s individual needs to ensure we find the most suitable opportunity for everyone.
