Day 2

Sunday, 25 May

A multilingual contribution from our talented YPs:

Matt nos dijo nosotros necesitamos escribir este en ingles, pero este es muy abburido y decidimos escribir en Espanol y deuschland.

(Matt told us we had to write this in English but that is very boring so we decided to write in Spanish and German – approximately 🙂)

Traslation using Google translate:

This morning, we cooked breakfast for everyone on the boat. And we saw a dolphin!
Next, we put up the sails and we set sail. Later, we practiced tacking.
Matt let us steer the boat, which was very irresponsible, hahaha because none of us had ever been on a boat before yesterday. We had fun.
I’m going to eat our dinner in twenty minutes, and the others cooked chicken with chorizo, which should be tasty.”

Day 3

Monday, 26 May

Today we sailed from Cowes to Poole.

We were awakened much too early to the most annoying music in the entire world and ate a breakfast of cereal and porridge.

After an incredibly efficient deck prep, we started the engine and began the voyage.

Today was the first time we have put up the main sail which was a challenging job with the wind. After a quick tea and biscuit break, we put up the Yankee and Staysail. This led to a lot of tipping of the boat and us getting very wet. We then decided, after a lunch of goujons and wraps, to sit on the foredeck and get really wet. We cowered in the cockpit as the boat was tipping more than 45 degrees but we all survived.

Finally, we got to Poole and packed away the boat. We went to Tesco and had a lovely Thai fish curry. Overall, today has been great and we feel good about our achievements.

Day 4

Tuesday, 27 May

27/5/25

Today we awoke to the lovely scent of pancakes cooked by our wonderful chef Fin. He made quite a lot, so props to him.

Then we started our day with a “fun” (as the adults called it) activity which involved us having to set up the boat completely  by ourselves.

On our voyage we were forced to go the bow (surely a health and safety risk mind you) by Georgina where we proceeded to catch frostbite from the freezing temperatures and the constant splashing of the waves hitting us every ten milliseconds. However, then we had a lovely bowl of pesto pasta cheese, and flapjacks, which cured every ailment we had caught along the long travel, which continued for another terrifying 2 hours, before we landed ashore and ate our amazing meals provided by the galley chef Gordon, whose an absolute diva.
