Group Exploration Voyage – Addey and Stanhope
Nine young people from Addey and Stanhope joined us for a four-night exploration voyage on board Challenger 3 in Portsmouth.

Day 1
Monday, 23 June

My most memorable moment of the day was when I was at the front of the boat looking at the view.
I was at my best when I was doing my job for the arrival of the boat because most people were not paying attention, but I feel like I was doing my job well.
Tomorrow I will be even better by being more organised for my tasks for the day
I was confused when I was supposed to be cooking with my group, and I was still on deck taking in the air.
I am looking forward to sailing again tomorrow and being more active in the roles of sailing a ship and gaining experience on a boat.

When we started to get ready and set sail to the ocean and we were having memorable moments during the day which was fantastic which I loved
When I was chopping up food for dinner which was amazing aka made by CJ and the journey here was funny as well
By me being ready focus prepared mentally ready and just being excellent and trying to excel tomorrow
I am looking forward for the day we are going to have tomorrow which is going to great because I will be ready and excited to learn more about sailing

The most memorable part of today was me being able to stand on the front of the boat with my legs hanging over the edge which made me feel like I was dreaming.
I was at my best today when I was listening to my skipper’s instructions and willing to put 100% into everything I do.
Tomorrow I will be even better by trying to stay focused at all times on the trip and not distracting others.
I am looking forward to cooking more food and learning more skills I can take to use in the real world.

The most memorable part of todays was sailing from Portsmouth to where we are currently staying at which is Cowes
I was at my best today when I was listening to the fundamentals about the boat and what everything is used for.
Tomorrow I will be even better when I by maintaining full focus when the skipper etc is talking.
I am looking forward to sailing for even longer and seeing how I can cope.
Day 2
Tuesday, 24 June
Abdul:
The most memorable moment of today is when we went swimming and had fun in the cold. We also had fun journey to Lymington even though it was very long and tiring.
I was at my best today is when I helped carry out stuff from the hatch. I also was at my best today when I was cooking with my friend and we had so much fun.
Tomorrow, I will be even better by getting more sleep at night rather than sleeping on the boat. I will have to be more engaged.
Cualli:
The most memorable part of today was when we put up the sails and was sailing for the first time and getting to steer to our next destination and manoeuvring around boats
I was at my best today when we went for a run in the morning because it put me in a calm mood because we burned some energy
Tomorrow, I will be even better by make choices that don’t just benefit me but the whole team and think about involving everyone in what we do and not let anyone get singled out
I am looking forward to sailing with the headsail and the mainsail because we didn’t have enough time to do so today
Zak:
- The most memorable part of today was when I went swimming and had a lot of fun and we went sailing for a couple of hours and I helped a lot, and I also got to steer the steering wheel.
- I was at my best today when I was helping packing up the stuff and we also went on a run which made me feel fresh and also cooking was fun.
- Tomorrow, I will be even better by making team choices and not choices for myself and encouraging the other team and also by not falling asleep while sailing

- The most memorable part of today was when I helped Tristan put up the Yankee 3, also when Zakariyyah got chased by the dog by the small beach.
- was at my best today when I was in the kitchen helping my team make dinner for everyone.
- Tomorrow I will be better by taking my teams advice and take it in rather than thinking I know best, I am looking forward to putting up the big sail.
Kamari
- The most memorable part is when we were all helping to do things on the boat
- Going to the beach and seeing Zaki and CJ running away from the dogs
- Tomorrow I will try and not sleep on the boat and help more
Day 3
Wednesday, 25 June
- Aziel
The most memorable part of today was finally putting up the big sail and sailing with all the sails.
I was at my best today when I was preparing the deck and helping with the sailing and steering the boat because it was fun and it made me feel productive.
Tomorrow I will be even better by getting even more active on deck and being focused on the jobs and trying to be helpful.
I am looking forward to once again sailing because that is the most peaceful and fun part of the trip so far and it makes you feel active.

The most memorable part of today was that we were working together to put the big sails and small sails up which was so much hard work and when we was jogging in the park until for time which was fun.
I was at my best when I was helping Sharon and my team clean up the deck up in the morning which was quite productive.
Tomorrow I will be even better by not slacking and trying to do more jobs on the boat so we can get out to sea quicker.
I am looking forward to what we are doing tomorrow so we can have some fun so can enjoy our time for tomorrow and when we go back home.

The most memorable part of today was putting up the sails and eating some nice scran (fish and chips!)
I was at my best today when I was listening to instructions first time and enjoying the trip with the boundaries set.
I will be even better when I listen to Sharon instructions first time and always do what she wants me to do because she is my favourite
I am looking forward to resting well tonight and waking up ready to be the best I can be!!!!

The most memorable part of today was probably putting up the sails and sailing without the motor.
I was at my best today when I was learning how to tie the fender’s.
I will be even better by listening to instruction first time and volunteering to do most things.

Day 4
Friday, 26 June
Abdul:
1. the most memorable part of today was when I was on the laptop looking at the weather forecast and tides.
2. I was at my best today when I helped on the deck and was helpful.
3. tomorrow, I will be even better by stop speaking at the wrong time.
4. I am looking forward to going home and meet my family.
Kavarli:
- The most memorable part of today was when my team got to walk to the boat without Mr Sinclair.
- I was at my best today when I was in the kitchen making dinner with my team and we got to talk.
- tomorrow I will be even better by listening to instructions and taking up and job that is offered.
- I am looking forward to putting the sails back up.

- The most memorable part of today was when we all were pulling on the winches to put up the sails
- I was at my best today after we went on a run because I was very regulated and calm and ready to work
- Tomorrow, I will be even better because it our last day and want to make the best of it
- I am looking forward to going home because I’m a bit home sick and I’m gonna see my friends and family
Zaki:
- The most memorable part of today was when I lowered the fender down to help stop the boat from crashing while parking and when we packed up the sails.
- I was at my best today when I was engaged with helping the crew put up the sails and sailing back to cows
- Tomorrow, I will be even better by not trying to sleep on the way back to Portsmouth and try to work even harder because it will the last day
- I am looking forward to going home and seeing my family and also seeing my friends.
