We were delighted to welcome a group of 10 amazing young people, aged 12 to 15, from George Green School for an exciting four-day voyage aboard Challenger 4.

From Monday 13 October to Friday 16 October 2025, the crew fully embraced life at sea, gaining new skills, growing in confidence, and realizing the value of teamwork as they learned to function together as a crew.

Read on to discover their incredible journey, told in their own words!

Challenger 4 | XF251013

Day 1

13th October

At the crack of dawn, we all awoke from our deep slumbers, a dream I wish I had never left fighting demons with swords. We trekked through the great depths of the Isle of Dogs, ploughing through the ongoing, Stampede of traffic half asleep dragging our selves to the day we  feared my entire life.

Ms tried to poison us with the dread of having to eat tuna sandwiches for lunch. We are at the train station. I fought “lions” trying to find Nouha’s lost zip card, and I succeeded and returned it to him to gain my aura.

We are at Portsmouth. I saw clouds and massive ship. We arrive on the boat home to us for 4 days. We went to the cold temperatures of the Atlantic Ocean pushing through thinking of the green chicken curry for the evening.

We saw our ship heading towards a “massive iceberg” so all 10 of us heroically vaulted overboard, we heard the loud screams of the crew “mans overboard!” but we only had one thing in mind to redirect the direction of the yacht back onto course towards the Isle of the Wight.

The experience was absolutely memorable. The thrill of being on the open seas, sailing around the Isle of Wight We learnt so many skills from our first day, such as to collaborate with our peers. We soon later devoured into our meals chicken curry.

We then had to write a blog and here we are.

We learnt lots of new skills and worked collaboratively together as a team. At first, I was dreading this trip, however, the tides have turned. Now, I feel like a new person with a whole new skill set, and I don’t regret a single bit.

Thanks, by [ Isa, Yusuf, Alex, Karima]

Day 2

14th October

7:30, we were awoken by Rachel (first mate). We all got ready to do our duties for the morning. Isa and Nouha were on toilet duty, it was clear they didn’t enjoy it.

We went to the local town in Cowes and was assigned a task of creating a quiz of the area. Everyone was split into two teams. Gordon’s team and Kitty’s team. Each team would come up with questions which were based on the main high street. e.g. what shop was established in 1799? We were given an hour to do this.

When it was all over, we met with our watch leaders, and luckily, they rewarded us with an opportunity to spend some of our money in Sainsburys. It was great. We really enjoyed exploring a local town in Cowes and familiarizing ourselves with the area, it was a memorable experience, reinforcing the teamwork and communication skills.

We made our way back to the challenger 4 boat, hands filled with purchases we made in Sainsbury’s. It was time to leave Cowes. Once everyone was aboard, we set our course to Yarmouth. On the way, we hoisted the sails catching the wind at an angle.

This caused the boat to tilt to one side, almost directly on the waters edge. This led Nouha to hold on for dear life, one second before letting go and letting the waves taking and accepting his fate Chloe skilfully manoeuvred the boat thankfully saving Nouha! It was truly heroic.

As the boat drifted back on course, we admired the beautiful coastline of the Isle of Wight  It was definitely something that you wouldn’t see in London.

Day 3

15th October

Nouha will not call a truce to a fellow citizen who saved his life. Yusuf saved Isa from a megalodon and Yusuf saved him by strangling the shark and putting it to sleep and he butchered the shark and fed it to the homeless people.

The ship nearly capsized and waves were crashing onto the ship and Bruno jumped into the sea and elegantly turned him into a mermaid and moved the waves and the turned into a water god and changed himself into a dolphin and gave us a talent show and we all gave him a 5 star rating since he told us that his talent show business is slow and Yusuf donated 1 MILLION POUNDS to his business and now his business up and running sop now Bruno is forever grateful for Yusuf and they ended up getting knighted by the king with the same swords that he killed the demons with.

On 8:23pm that battle of the kinder bueno happened, it killed many people and made many citizens depressed especially a fellow citizen called Yusuf Hoque who nicked all of the kinder bueno along with cookies and his best friend Isa Ahmed was also a sidekick but sadly ended up betraying Yusuf and ended their friendship right then and there.

All the people who died from the battle of the kinder bueno was risen from the mast and was in peace and while that was happening Isa and Yusuf looked up into the sky and ate a kinder bueno in honour of their memory. The honourable soldier was Nouha Fofana and his son Alex young….
