St Michaels School join us for a 4-night voyage. Follow their journey below.

Day 1

17 June

Today we drove to Portsmouth in the minibus. We dropped our bags at the dock, devoured our lunch, and navigated through shops. Then we boarded the ship and got a briefing on the boat while having a drink and biscuits. After that, we had a tour of the boat before we set sail to Cowes.

As a team activity, we put up the head sail and the Yankee 2. Once we’d done that, we had a quick tea and biscuit break. When we got to Cowes one watch headed below deck to cook dinner which was fajitas. After dinner, we went for a walk to the beach picked some pretty shells and scavenged for sea glass while enjoying the beautiful sunset. We finished off with a well-deserved break, showers and then got ready for bed…

Day 2

Tuesday 18 June

We woke up and got changed and then we had breakfast with a variety of cereal, toast and croissant then we put our lifejackets on and set sail to Weymouth.  we all put in our hardest work to help put up the big (main) sail. Whilst we waited as it was a long journey, we learned some knots like the bowline and clove hitch.

Day 3

Wednesday 18 June

We had breakfast. After that, we spent the morning in Weymouth and went out to a couple of shops and hung out on the beach. Then we set sail and put up the main sail, plus the others, and battled harsh waves and heavy wind… Then we ate a nice lunch of baguettes. We then docked at Poole and had some fish and chips for dinner. After that, we played a couple of rounds of boat mafia and ate a cherry Bakewell tart. Then we went to bed.

Day 4

Thursday 19 June

We ate breakfast which was bacon baps. After that we climbed the mast. At lunch, we started sailing away from Poole marina as well as a couple of people got seasick from the rocky waves. We also put up the Yankee sail and practised saving people from overboard with a fender. We dropped our anchor near Gunwharf quays and ate dinner. Then we set off to Portsmouth at 8 o’clock and went to bed after we arrived.
