Debdale Outdoor Centre join us for a 4-night voyage. Follow their journey below.
Day 1
Monday, 19 August
Today, we set off on our adventure to Portsmouth to start our tall ship voyage. After our journey down to Portsmouth we got put into our boat groups eventually we entered the vessel called sarah/challenger 3. Secondly, we had an introduction and finally settled into the great vessel. Suddenly we were told we were going on a voyage to Cowes. We set sail after our amazing safety briefs on the interior and exterior of the boat. We got ready to set sail…
Then we hit the crashing and thundery waves and the water spitting drastically at us eventually we made it into the calm near Cowes and the weather turned round a bit but still drizzled. Finally, after our adventurous day we docked at the beautiful island of Cowes…
Then we didn’t cook enough food to everyone’s despair and rathe and anger and rage and sadness. Quickly the master chefs cooked up a storm of chicken and wraps which was glorious. Now everyone is settled and now ready to venter and explore in our adventure on tall ships youth trust everyone is now having showers and are excited and pumped for the next 4 days ahead of us on our beautiful and amazing and incredible life experience.

Day 2
Tuesday, 20 August
Today , we woke up by 7;30 and all rolled out of bed and all ended up half asleep around the breakfast table. Lochlann refused to eat breakfast because he is always moody in the mornings . Once he got out of his mood we decided to prep the boat ready to set off for a long day of a good and windy sailing.
Today we had all the sails up and sailed like this 56.42 miles which was very fun and we was on a big tilt the whole way there. many of us were either sick or just felt really sick which ruined the day for many because they couldn’t get stuck in. But apart from that it was a good day of sailing . When we arrived in Weymouth we docked with other boat coming shortly after , we are now making MEATBALLS (hopefully we don’t die of food poisoning ).

Day 3
Wednesday, 21 August
Today, we were treated to a very rare but much appreciated lie-in for an entire extra hour than the normal 7:30 wake up time. Another treat that was greatly appreciated by the entire crew was not having to ruin our hands after rigging the boat because we had one entire day in the scenic Weymouth. We were given each delectable bacon sandwiches in the morning, thanks to the master-chefs, and they soon disappeared as the morning hunger was cured…
Our first port of call was to conquer a fear of heights and climb the mast. Everyone who decided to head up the mast went all the way to the top, much to the dismay of those sweating the ropes to lift them up to their lofty destination. Although, it was agreed that the view was nothing short of fantastic and that it was absolutely worth doing. Our second task was for both teams to leave their Challenger ships behind and head towards the beach as a fierce competition was due. Each ship was divided into their respective teams and was pit against each other in several different activities, including the chaotic three-legged race, a few frantic knot tying races, and finally, a tug of war. After these taxing events had concluded, the winner of the most was (and rather clearly) Challenger 3, our boat. After the obligatory bragging was over, each team left with their heads held high as we were allowed free time in the town around the harbour. Most people (me included), went straight to the ice-cream shop, followed by a trip to Tesco to collect water guns to terrorise each other (Especially you, Will)
Ending the day with a cheeky fish and chips and a speech from Jemimah about her several hospital trips. Very appetising! We all then headed to bed for a well-deserved rest.
Day 4
Thursday, 22 August
Today, we had to wake up nice and early ready to embark on our voyage from Weymouth to Portsmouth. We woke up at five am and departed the harbour at ten past six to ABBA to wake us all up. We had the Tri sail (a type of storm sail) rigged and ready to go for the rough and gusty day ahead.
We set off promptly and hoisted the Yankee sail and embarked on our voyage. At first, the waves were hitting us from the side, and they were exceptionally large and deep however it was a repetitive motion that we all got used to as time went on. Today was good as only one person was seasick today meaning that it was less chaotic up on deck.

Following this Harry promised to read one of his brilliant bedtime stories with his different voices and sound effects. For the rest of the journey, we remained on deck playing various games to pass the time such as ‘I spy’ and ‘a-z of (insert topic).’ however, as our journey to Portsmouth ended everyone jumped into action in order to dock challenger 3 way before challenger 1 who left 10mins before us. Once we had docked, we headed below deck to have lunch which was pasties and beans which Eva and James made us with expert cooking skills. After lunch we packed away the sails and packed away for the night. Then, people headed to the showers, and we reach the point in time which we are currently writing this blog.
Goodbye.
