Cranmore School join us on CH2 and CH3 for a 4-night voyage. Follow their journey below.

Day 1

Sunday, 7 July

We left Cranmore at 10.45 and arrived at Portsmouth at 1.00. We chilled for a while and then loaded our bags onto a cart. We then got onto our designated boats. We then went through the safety briefings and how everything works. We then got the stay sail and rope ready. We then left port at 4.30. We cruised with our engine along the Solent. We relaxed and passed the other boat, after a while we put up the sails. We arrived in Cowes and made dinner, which was very good. Then ate it. After this some went for showers, while the some cleaned the dishes. Matteo scared Jed and Zac and it was super funny.

Day 2

Monday, 8 July

While we were all tucked into bed enjoying our beauty sleep the sound of music struck our ears waking us up for our early duties, when we had finished our duties we set sail. All tired most of us went to sleep even though the conditions were awful. As we were enjoying our sleep it was time for breakfast. We all ate a choice of cereal giving us energy for the long day ahead. Just after breakfast, we set up the main sail powering us through the water. As everything was under control one of the groups headed below deck to make lunch. Lunch consisted of wraps with delicious ingredients. When we had finished most of the crew were still tired so a quick break was necessary before we had to set up more sails. The whole crew endured tasks to put the sails up with great teamwork. After all the sails were up we headed for Weymouth for the final stretch of the journey.  We then arrived at around 4 o’clock. We put down the sails and put the fenders on the sides of the boat ready to call it a day. We got off the boat and decided to head into the shops to buy essentials for the upcoming days (mostly just sweets.) We then headed back to the boat and tucked into dinner consisting of fish and chips. We then headed off for showers. All exhausted after a long day we tucked into beds early and talked with our crewmates before heading to bed.

Day 3

Tuesday, 9 July

Today we set off from Weymouth at 0930 in decent conditions that drastically decreased as we made our way into the open sea. Firstly we put up the sails and then started to make our way to Poole. As we made our journey, the boat was leaning over very heavily as the wind and rain beat down on the ship. But the crew managed to keep the ship going and we eventually got through the storm and after what seemed ages, we arrived at the entrance to Poole. Once at the entrance, we dropped the main sail and had to put it away, which is very hard work and requires us to work as a team. Once it was away, we headed into Poole and tied up in the marina. We put the boat to bed and then went for a walk around Poole. We came back to the boat and some of us played games, whilst the others cooked dinner. Dinner was supposed to be sausage, mash, carrots and peas, but due to the time it took to cook the mash, we decided to not bother with the carrots and only cooked peas. It was a scrummy meal and once finished, some of us cleaned up, whilst the others went for showers. We then swapped over. It was then time for bed, before another day begins.
