Please tell us a bit about yourself
I love life on, in and under the water, and I’m always out and about walking, camping and travelling!
I’ve worked in schools for 17 years, primarily as a Geography teacher but also outdoor learning, house staff and most recently senior leadership, responsible for curriculum and progress.
I’m very family focused, not forgetting our four-legged family member Charlie, who you’re likely to see from time to time in the Portsmouth Hub!
I like to take on a daft challenge every so often, which now means I jump in the sea (by choice) throughout the year and complete running challenges like hellrunner and half-marathons for fun (apparently).
Please tell us a bit about your role at Tall Ships Youth Trust
In this new position as Director of Youth Development and Outdoor Learning and TSYT, my role is to develop opportunities for our young people and members to build their skills and enhance their experience.
I’ll be looking to really drive that social change and personal development for our young people, and to create life-changing opportunities in a sailing environment.
What has been your most memorable moment at Tall Ships Youth Trust?
I first sailed with TSYT when Sir Winston Churchill (Schooner vessel, previously owned by TSYT) still graced our horizons and my uncle introduced me to the world of sailing! He sailed with me as our Watch Officer, an amazing memory we shared!
I’ve had so many amazing memories of sailing onboard different vessels over the years, from Sir Winston Churchill to Stavros S Niarchos and now the Challengers… I’m not sure I can pick just one!
What is one thing you think people should know about Tall Ships Youth Trust?
Sailing is the tool, youth development is the goal!
