Around Britain Challenge 2014

In 2013 we had a successful circumnavigating the UK anti-clockwise on board one of our 72ft ‘ round the world’ Challenger Yachts. So we thought we would do it again in 2014!

This time we are going Clockwise.

The first leg takes the yacht along the beautiful south coast and then rounding Land’s End. At around 350 nm this first leg will give you a great opportunity to experience some offshore sailing.

Leg 2 of our UK circumnavigation takes the yacht further up the west coast. If the weather plays ball there may even be an opportunity to visit Dublin and experience the famous Irish craic.  Sail up the Irish Sea and head for Inverkip where a warm Scottish welcome will be waiting.

Leg 3 of our UK circumnavigation takes the yacht into the famous fleet Caledonian Canal. Having left Inverkip you will round Arran and head for Fort William to enter the 62 mile canal. Highlights while in the canal will include 4 aquaducts, the 8 locks of Neptune’s Staircase and the world famous Loch Ness. Once on the through the canal you will head south for the popular town of Hartlepool.

Leg 4 sees the yacht head down the east coast. If the weather is playing ball you will probably head across to the Dutch or Belgium coast before heading into the Channel. Once in the Channel, depending on progress you may visit another English or French port before heading for the Solent on the south coast. The voyage will finish in the famous maritime port of Portsmouth.
