Tall Ships Youth Trust celebrated their 11th Charity Yacht Regatta on the weekend. The event had a fantastic turnout with 17 crews taking part in the racing and evening event.
Weather conditions saw Saturdays racing cancelled but crews were in high spirits and made up for it on the Sunday. This year Fairview Sailing’s race matched fleet of Beneteau 37’s were used for the regatta and all teams benefited from using these boats. Good winds, three races and competitive sailing between the fleet of 17, saw Henry Scutt’s team Knot on Duty win with two 1st and a 2nd place.
150 people attended the evening event at Cowes Yacht Haven. Teams ditch their wet weather gear for fancy dress and danced the night away to Blonde Bombshell, the evening entertainment.
Throughout the evening various fundraising activities took place including Top ‘n’ Tails, a fundraising auction and raffle. There were some excellent prizes entered by the teams including a week in a Greek Villa, White Water Rafting with Team GB on the Olympic course in London and Naim Mu-So wireless speakers.
The 2015 Charity Yacht Regatta raised over £7,000 for the Tall Ships Youth Trust, a significant increase on last year’s event! Money from this fundraising event will provide bursaries for 12-25 year olds to enter our sail training and youth development voyages.
To everyone that took part in the event, the Tall Ships Youth Trust would like to extend their thanks for your continued support, for making the weekend a success and helping to provide more young people with life changing opportunities. The total funds raised for the charity over this one weekend is monumental!
