STAVROS BRINGS MISSING YACHT TO SAFETY

On Tuesday 28/04, Stavros S Niarchos made anchor in Swanage Bay when missing sailing yacht Tanza (a Westerley 26′) was spotted 15 metres off her quarter, motoring round in circles.

Captain Roy, Bosun Kim and Deckhand Claire boarded the vessel and the yacht was reported to the coastguard at 1919.

Once Captain Roy assessed the situation on board Tanza, he took the helm and followed Bosun Kim in the rib towards Swanage Pier.

Tanza was safely alongside without incident at 1935 and the gentleman on board received medical attention from the Lifeboat and Coastguard agency.

Luckily for this sailor the crew of Stavros were able to give help when needed. Our team responded to this situation excellently and professionally, working together as a team to bring the yacht to safety.

We are incredibly proud to acknowledge Captain Roy and the crew involved and to thank them for taking an active role in this rescue. They are a credit to the Trust.
