It is with deepest regret and sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Leslie Barker (Lex to his friends and colleagues)
Lex served for years in The Royal Navy and a large part of his life he dedicated to working with young people for the Tallships Youth Trust ( formerly the STA). Lex went above and beyond in supporting young people, not only at sea but in their home lives too. Lex’s seafaring heart will always be on the Sir Winston Churchill and Malcolm Miller, and he even got to visit the Malcolm Miller last week.
The world has lost a dear friend, hugely supportive colleague and a true mariner. The world of Sail Training is lucky to have had such a lovely, caring and charismatic person in their lives.
Thank you for letting us be part of your life and for all the support you have given to so many young people who entered into Sail Training.
R.I.P Lexie you’ll be missed greatly by us all. We will be swinging the lantern for you mate and raising a glass in your honour.
