Explore the South Coast and learn to sail during the summer holidays on this 11 night South Coast Adventure.
This is the ideal starter voyage to experience sailing on a smaller yacht with up to 8 voyage crew members before progressing onto our Challenger fleet.
You will learn the fundamental aspects of sailing and by the end of the voyage you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.
You will have the opportunity to explore Lulworth Cove, a cove near the village of West Lulworth on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site in Dorset and Weymouth, a beautiful seaside resort of the South Coast. The cove is one of the world’s finest examples of such a landform. This plan will be discussed at the beginning of the week and reviewed each day depending on the weather conditions and time available.
The first day will include meet and greet followed by a safety briefing before heading out into the Solent. You will then begin to learn basic sailing techniques and experience man over board practice. The evening will be spent alongside where you will have the traditional Tall Ships’ fajitas dinner.
Over the following days you will build your sailing knowledge whilst having fun and making friends. You will be involved with all aspects of sailing the yacht from looking after the boat to cooking and cleaning. After a day at sea most evenings will be spent covering theory, relaxing and socialising or you may have the chance to go ashore.
Whilst every effort will be made to deliver the above voyage content sometimes, due to weather and crew’s ability, the content may need to change. Please see below for our full Conditions of Booking.
Passport – Where passport required is indicated, the voyage will start and/or finish abroad or a UK based voyage will aim to visit abroad.
D of E – All of our voyages of 4 nights or more qualify for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential section. Please let our Reservations Team know before sailing if you want to use to use the voyage for the residential section.
